Prospective Players
Interested players are welcome in the league. With a limitation of 24 teams, it
must be understood that players who desire to join a team may have to wait several
months before they are contacted to join a team. GRSL does not guarantee that
you will be able to join a team. That decision is between you and the individual
team. There are three methods you can use to increase your chances to play.
- If a season is currently being played, attend a few games as a spectator.
The game schedule is posted on the website and you can use this opportunity
to approach captains and discuss joining a team.
- More than likely, you (and the team) will want to practice together a few
times to see if there is a good match. There are links to maps for fields
that are populated by many teams on weeknight evenings. Typically small-sided
games are played and it is easy to jump in and get acquainted.
- Using the 'New Player Sign Up' link (in the 'General Info' sub-menu), send
brief information about yourself. GRSL will put you on the player pool list
and send this list to all the captains in the league. Captains needing a player
with your experience may call you. The league does not monitor this list;
so do not submit questions regarding the league in the 'additional information'
area of the player information. If you have general questions regarding the
league, contact (info AT grsl.org) with your inquires. You should visit the
website and renew your information prior to the start of each new season as
the lists are purged mid-season.
Prospective Teams
Occasionally, teams disband and there are openings for new teams to form. If a group of players would like to join the league as a team, they should contact (info AT grsl.org) expressing their desire to start a new team. Each season, returning teams are given priority over new teams. Should an opening be available, new teams who have expressed an interest will be contacted, and the appropriate steps will be taken to integrate the new team into the league. If there are more teams seeking to join than space will allow, a lottery will be used to determine which teams will be offered a position. Team rosters are limited to twenty-two players who share the cost of one season of play (10 games).
